How to fight hair loss or alepocia

Having full hair seems to be an essential element of beauty for many males. Sometimes though, men tend to lose their hair slowly until to a point where large parts of their heads remain bald, most often much to their dismay. There may be seversal reasons for male hair loss, although often it can be attributed to alopecia or male pattern baldness. In these cases, the hair is lost in certain patterns or stages, usually beginning on the frontal parts of the head and slowly advancing backwards with time. In later stages, the hair will usually also get thinner at the top of the head, leaving a rim of hair around the sides and rear of the head only. The reasons behind male hair loss are currently only partly known: an androgen hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is said to have adverse effect on the lifetime of the hair follicles if they have a genetic sensitivity to DHT.

Fortunately, nowadays there are several ways to prevent hair loss or to hide the effects. Hair loss can be prevented with special hair loss treatments or medications such as Finasteride. Disadvantageous might be the fact there can be unwanted adverse effects and that Finasteride is not effective in every case. Alternatively, hair transplantation might offer relief. Here, hair from other parts of the body that are immune to DHT are transplanted to bald areas, the drawback is that the procedure can be painful and expensive.

Of course, bald areas can also be disguised or concealed with special, high quality male wigs or hairpieces, which is in comparison to other alternatives neither painful nor does it have sideeffects in normal cases. Also, wigs aren’t as expensive compared to the above stated treatments to cover the bald areas of the head. Since male wigs are available in manifold haircuts, hairstyles and hair colors they can be an adequate solution for nearly every hair loss problem.

One solution for males who retained a rim of hair around the sides and rear of the head might be a custom made half wig, which is weft in by a professional hairdresser. These weft in half wigs are well fixed to the head, but will last only for several weeks as the hair will grow. So the half wig needs to be to readjusted and reattached by the hairdresser again. The easiest solution are full wigs, which are available from artificial hair or human hair, with the artificial hair wigs being the most economic solution. One of the main advantages of full hair wigs is that the user can easily put these wigs on and off by himself, using an adjustable fitting within the wig or tape strips to adjust the wig on the head. One of the disadvantages of wigs is the limited wearing comfort, especially during summertime.

So, all in all there are several solutions to conceal hair loss, although all of them seem to have some more or less severe drawbacks.
