How to wash a synthetic wig

Synthetic wigs are sure trendsetters and are more convenient to use than the human hair wigs. Nowadays synthetic hair comes close to the look of human hair and is available in many shades of color, because of this it is widely used for the fabrication of wigs. To make sure that your synthetic wigs can last long, then you will have to take care of it. These types of wigs need to be washed using a specific method.

First, you will need a shampoo specifically designed for synthetic wigs. Do not use ordinary shampoo. Synthetic wigs are not the same as our hair. Ordinary shampoo can wear off the wig’s natural color.

Using a wire brush, brush the hair before you wash it. Do not use your typical hairbrush because it can ruin the fabric of the wig. Brush the wig gently. Then you will need bowl of lukewarm water. In a bowl of lukewarm water, add a teaspoonful of shampoo. Place the wig on the solution for a minute. Do not let the wig stay on the solution for more than a minute. Then remove the wig from the bowl and gently squeeze the excessive water from the wig. Do not forcefully twist your wig to squeeze out the water. Dry the wig using a towel. You can use hair conditioner for your wig periodically or before the final rinse.

Always place your wig on it’s wig stand after every usage. It is recommended that you wash your synthetic wig every after 15 wearings.

There are a few things to avoid when washing a wig, keep these in mind because otherwise you might damage the synthetic fibres. Do not brush the when wet! Do not use a blow dryer to dry the wig.
